Safeguarding Recognised at R.E.A.L.
R.E.A.L Education has been awarded the Safeguarding Initiative (during COVID-19) award from The Safeguarding Alliance. The Safeguarding Initiative Award has been designed to publicly recognise and highlight schools who have demonstrated exceptional safeguarding initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep children and young people safe.
The Safeguarding Alliance is a global organisation who are committed to raising the standard for safeguarding and child protection globally.
The Safeguarding Initiative Award was assessed against three points below, and both the safeguarding initiative and the impact it had in keeping children and young people safe during the COVID-19 pandemic were taken into account:
1. How has the school adapted safeguarding policies and procedures during COVID-19;
2. How has the school identified vulnerable pupils and ensured that they are kept safe during COVID-19;
3. How has the school been innovative in their approach in safeguarding children and young people during COVID-19.
Kay Carter, Head of Safeguarding and Standards at R.E.A.L. Education said: “This award is shared amongst all of the safeguarding partnerships and professionals in children’s social care, youth offending services, family services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and health colleagues, the police, schools and commissioners.
“It has been an extremely challenging time for all of us, and we had so many examples of innovative and creative safeguarding practice to showcase. Every single member of the R.E.A.L. family has contributed – I am so proud of our profession and our key workers.”
Well done to the whole R.E.A.L. team!
