Careers Week takes place every year in March and the aim of the week is to support learners with their plans and aspirations for their future and brings together careers talks and events to learners, educators and businesses.
Learners will be given the opportunity to engage in quality and meaningful interactions with employers which will support them to better understand the links between their course, skills and employability pathways open to them.
During this week learners will get the opportunity to develop their employability skills including:
Getting along with and working well with other people, such as communication and interpersonal skills.
Being reliable and dependable: doing what you say you will by the deadline you have agreed and turning up when you are meant to be there; and
Team Working skills, including helping and guiding, persuading, sharing openly and willingly, being an active participant, being flexible, and showing commitment.
As well as internal guest speakers, there will be visits externally to local colleges and training providers to discuss progression routes and also opportunities for learners to visit larger companies to find out more about careers in catering, construction and the sport and leisure industry.
