Helping the Homeless
R.E.A.L. tutor Jodie Strang and one of her learners recently organised a collection of much-needed items for a local homeless charity.
Jodie’s learner has been undertaking a project all about homelessness, and decided that they wanted to try and make a difference this Christmas.
After contacting local charities to ask how they could help, Jodie and her learner started the hub-wide collection across R.E.A.L. They then discovered a soup kitchen just around the corner from R.E.A.L. Alternative Provision School’s Woodhouse Road hub. Bridge Street Methodist Church, Mansfield hold the soup kitchen every Monday and Friday, and rely purely on charitable donations to keep going.
Jodie said: “We took donations of tinned food, tea, coffee, toiletries, coats, jumpers, gloves, hats, underwear, sleeping bags and sleeping mats.
“The church were very grateful for all the donated items from R.E.A.L. Thank you so much to all those who donated!”
