R.E.A.L. Recognition from Ofsted

Ofsted recently visited The Beech Academy in Mansfield. The inspection team carried out a case study on a student who attends R.E.A.L. Education (alternative provision), and as part of this study asked to visit the student whilst he was attending the Land Based Study provision at R.E.A.L.

We were delighted to be mentioned in an extremely positive light in their ‘Good’ Ofsted report.  Please see below for some of the brilliant comments:

“Inspectors visited pupils in the alternative provision. The standards of personal development and welfare evident in the school are replicated off site. Inspectors found the alternative provision sampled to be exceptionally safe and secure for pupils.”

“Rigorous checking systems are in place to ensure that pupils’ safety and well-being are high on the agenda.”

“The organisation of the specialist and alternative provision secures good progress for pupils over time. These aspects of the wider provision successfully address the specific personal needs of pupils.

Beyond academic outcomes, pupils are supported to gain essential life skills and become active members of society. Overall, pupils are well prepared for their next stage of education, training or employment.”

Alison Stothard-Brown, Provision Lead at Land Based Studies, said:  “It’s great to know that the work that we are putting in is being recognised, not only by the progress the learners are showing, but also by fantastic feedback received from Ofsted.”

Adrian O’Malley, Headteacher at The Beech Academy said: “The Ofsted inspector was impressed with the relationship we have with R.E.A.L.  They could see that communication between school and the Learning Manager, Lorraine Elliott was clear and thorough as they looked at a detailed case study.

“During the visit where the inspector insisted on visiting the student, all R.E.A.L. staff were really helpful and the inspector left feeling satisfied that the young person was receiving a good experience from R.E.A.L.”

RAPS Mansfield will became RIS Mansfield on 27th May. The new RIS website will be launching shortly.
