UK Construction Week Experience
Last month R.E.A.L.’s Construction BTEC Level 1 learners had a trip out to the Birmingham NEC for the UK Construction Week event showcase.
UK Construction Week (UKCW) is the UK’s largest built environment event and consists of nine shows: Timber Expo, Build Show, Civils Expo, Plant & Machinery Live, Energy 2019, Building Tech Live, Surface & Materials Show, HVAC 2019 and Grand Designs Live.
The aim of the visit was to give the learners a wider view of the different types of jobs and methods involved in construction – not just the standard bricklaying, plastering, joinery, painting.
Gary Orridge, Provision Manager and Tutor at R.E.A.L. Education, led the trip. Gary said: “This is such a great show, it allowed our learners the opportunity to see so many different possibilities – a huge variety of jobs in construction that they may otherwise have never of even thought about.
“It was fantastic to see the learners getting involved in the interactive aspects of the expo. They were all buzzing in the mini bus on the way back!”
