World Book Day
World Book Day was celebrated across R.E.A.L. Education on Thursday 5th March 2020.
Learners were encouraged to talk about their favourite books and share the reasons why they would recommend them. A Book Club was also launched at Woodhouse Road, with learners voting on which book they’d like to read first.
RAPS Cafe also joined in the fun by serving a ‘Snow White and the Huntsman Chicken’ (Hunters Chicken) special with a brilliant learner-made ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar Chocolate Cake’ for pudding!
Sian Bullan, School Lead for Curriculum at RAPS said: “We were really impressed with the numbers of learners that got involved with the activities on World Book Day – they certainly had a lot of books to recommend!
“At R.E.A.L., we feel really strongly about engaging all our learners in reading, not only as part of their curriculum but also reading for pleasure. Each learning hub has a book corner or library area which learners can freely use to access new reading material.
“The great Dr Suess did say: ‘The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go!’”
